From our most recent Evangelion story, William is facing the Angel Ramiel in the fortified city of Tokyo III.

This Angel has the most unusual shape. It could easily be compared to a flying fortress, impenetrable and heavily armed.
Even though we had a total of three operational EVAs and a fully functional fortified city, this Angel proved to be quite a challenge. In the end, we didn't diverge from the original scenario and we used the Positron Canon to take the Angel down.
Ever since this battle, Rei grew closer to William and Severnawa.

Did you know that angel was actually based on a floating weapon called The Super-X that appeared in an anime that came earlier called Future Police Urashiman? Look it up, they even look nearly identical and have similar abilities.
